Looking at the north side of central test pit.
Top - edge of concrete base and hardcore, overlays -
Garden soil layer, with a high volumn of rubbish in it
White - Compacted Chalk tipped into the pit to stablise what was
probably a soft area.
Rubbish Layer e.g. oyster shells, pottery, glazed bricks, early clay
pipes ...
Limit of dig reached, as shoring would be needed to go further,
without finding natural at base - may go down much further/.
